Cellulite

Cellulite (also known as adiposis edematosa, dermopanniculosis deformans, status protrusus cutis, gynoid lipodystrophy, and orange peel syndrome) is the herniation of subcutaneous fat within fibrous connective tissue that manifests topographically as skin dimpling and nodularity, often on the pelvic region (specifically the buttocks), lower limbs, and abdomen.

The causes of cellulite include changes in metabolism, physiology, diet and exercise habits, sex-specific dimorphic skin architecture, alteration of connective tissue structure, hormonal factors, genetic factors, the microcirculatory system, the extracellular matrix, and subtle inflammatory alterations.
Treatments

The gold standards are lasers and radio-frequency (RF) devices, both of which use massage and heat to stimulate collagen production and alter the septae so they don’t pull as hard on the skin, causing dimples. These relatively painless treatments also use the heat energy to help shrink fat cells (your liver then processes the fat).

“Lasers and RF work equally well,” says Robert Weiss, an associate professor of dermatology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, in Baltimore.
Radiofrequency (RF)

Radiofrequency (RF) energy treatment is a new and promising technology for non-surgical body contouring, fat and cellulite reduction. Pure RF energy alone or RF in combination with other modalities (such as Lipo-laser),  can be used in treatments to effectively contour the body and reduce the appearance of cellulite and fat.

With deep, controlled heating of the fatty layers under the skin, the effects of tissue tightening and increased blood circulation mean that fatty deposits are drained through the lymphatic system, reducing the appearance of cellulite.

Based on current RF technologies, most people should see at least a mild improvement in their skin tone, with a temporary reduction in the appearance of cellulite and possible inch loss, with minimal risks and downtime. Prices for radiofrequency depend on the area(s) treated and the device used.

Lipo-Laser

Non-surgical liposuction techniques use laser energy to reduce fat. The device is applied directly to the skin of the treatment area and does not employ injections (as in injection lipolysis) or incisions (as in laser assisted liposuction).
Although fat loss is more subtle with non-surgical lipolysis techniques compared to surgical liposuction, non-surgical lipolysis techniques have several advantages including reduced risk, reduced cost, and reduced healing time. This technique also provides the additional advantage of tissue tightening.

How does Lipo-Laser work?
Low level laser light reduces the stability of adipocyte cell membranes, allowing cells to release their stores of fat without damaging the cell. The Lipo laser emits low levels of laser energy, which creates a chemical signal in the fat cells, breaking down the stored triglycerides into free fatty acids and glycerol and releasing them though channels in the cell membranes. The fatty acids and glycerol are then transported around the body to the tissues that will use them during metabolism to create energy. This process of fatty acid release is a natural response of the body when the body needs to used stored energy reserves, thus lipo laser is not creating any unnatural reaction in the body nor does it affect or damage any surrounding structures such as skin, blood vessels and peripheral nerves.

Because the fat is released into the extracellular space, cardio based exercise is usually promoted after the procedure. This is also why adequate hydration is encouraged.

How soon will I see results?
Because of the slow resolution of swelling, the ultimate results following the lipo laser usually require 8 to 12weeks to become fully apparent. Clients can usually see dramatic improvements within just 1 to 2 weeks after the treatment. Some areas like the neck and jaw show results quicker

Which areas of the body can be treated?
The lipo laser can be performed on calves, knees, thigh, buttocks, stomach, arms and chin. We have more pads for you, so every time you can treat two larger body sections and save on the treatment time.

Does it hurt?
The Lipo laser treatment is an extremely comfortable treatment the only sensation felt from the treatment pads is a slight warmth.
